GRID Backup privacy policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

GRID Backup is a private tool that stores encrypted backups of the owner's own computers in the owner's own Google Drive. It has one user: its owner. There is no sign-up and no one else's data is involved.

What data it accesses

Using Google's Drive permission, GRID Backup accesses only the files in the owner's own Google Drive that it creates and reads itself: the backup files. It does not open, read or change any other files, and it asks for no other Google data.

How the data is protected

Backups are encrypted on the owner's computer before they are uploaded. The files kept in Google Drive cannot be read without the owner's key.

How the data is used

Only to save the owner's backups and to restore them when the owner needs them. The data is:

Google API Services User Data Policy

GRID Backup's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies and analytics

GRID Backup and this website use no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Like any website, the web host may keep basic server logs (such as the time of a visit and the visitor's IP address) for security. They are not used to track anyone.

How long data is kept, and how to remove access

Backup files stay in the owner's Google Drive until the owner deletes them. Access can be removed at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. After that, GRID Backup can no longer reach Google Drive.
